Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales remained positive growth
for the fifth consecutive month

Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales in October 2020 stood at RM122.0 billion, grew 2.2 per cent as compared to previous year. The rise in sales value in October 2020 was driven by the increase in Food, Beverages & Tobacco Products (13.8%), Transport Equipment & Other Manufactures Products (9.3%) and Electrical & Electronics Products (3.8%). Meanwhile, on month-on-month basis, the sales value increased 0.6 per cent.

Total employees engaged in the Manufacturing sector in October 2020 was 2,188,520 persons, a decrease of 2.3 per cent as compared to 2,241,170 persons in October 2019. Salaries & wages paid amounted to RM7,198.3 million, dropped by 1.6 per cent or RM116.1 million in October 2020 as against the same month of the preceding year.

The sales value per employee rose by 4.7 per cent to record RM55,747 as compared with the same month in 2019. Meanwhile, the average salaries & wages per employee was RM3,289 in October 2020.
