Malaysia Manufacturing sales increased 6.5 per cent in June 2021 to
RM124.4  billion and expanded by 33.9 per cent in the second quarter 2021

Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales in June 2021 stood at RM124.4 billion, grew 6.5 per cent as compared to previous year. The rise in sales value in June 2021 was driven by Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber & Plastic Products (41.6%), Food, Beverages & Tobacco Products (9.0%) and Electrical & Electronics Products (2.2%). Meanwhile, on month-on-month basis, the sales value increased 1.3 per cent.

Total employees engaged in the Manufacturing sector in June 2021 was 2,215,420 persons, an increase of 1.2 per cent as compared to 2,188,142 persons in June 2020. Salaries & wages paid amounted to RM7,360.3 million, increased by 3.5 per cent or RM247.2 million in June 2021 as against the same month of the preceding year.

The sales value per employee rose by 5.2 per cent to record RM56,135 as compared with the same month in 2020. Meanwhile, the average salaries & wages per employee was RM3,322 in June 2021.

In the second quarter 2021, the sales value of the Manufacturing sector grew 33.9 per cent to RM377.7 billion as compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The increase was driven by Transport Equipment & Other Manufactures Products (47.3%), Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber & Plastics Products (46.3%) and Electrical & Electronics Products (30.0%). The number of employees and salaries & wages rose 1.2 per cent and 6.0 per cent respectively in the second quarter 2021.
