The Department of Statistics, Malaysia is conducting the Annual Census of Crude Oil and Natural Gas Mining Industries 2014 for reference year 2013. The census covers Section B (Mining and Quarrying) based on the Malaysia Standard Industrial Classification, 2008. This census is a mail enquiry survey. Respondents are given two (2) months to complete and return the questionnaires to the Department. The main objective of the survey is to collect information pertaining to growth, contribution, composition and distribution of the crude oil and natural gas sector to assist government in development planning and formulating policies. The data are also used for the compilation of national accounts, input-output tables and specific studies. In addition, the results are used by policy makers, economists, planners and academicians in economic projections and analyses. The information collected is published in the publication namely Petroleum and Natural gas Statistics.
